Favorites of the week (September 14, 2015)
It’s been a while, and I wanted to take this opportunity to ask for your patience as my time has not been as lenient as before. Therefore, each week I will try to do a recap of everything that has been part of my week, starting with this week’s songs I’ve been interested in.
(September 14, 2015 – September 20, 2015)
This song came out last week (Sept. 15 to be exact) and it fulfilled my expectations of what is to come from iKON. The melody is nice and subtle, but can easily be a song one can jam along. My only concern with this song is the overflowing attention that the two rappers, B.I and Bobby are receiving, but I trust the rest of the members will have their chance to shine in their full album (especially Chanwoo!).
As a fan of NELL’s music, I was glad to hear that they have another song to share with us. I personally found this a great song, emphasizing their strengths in the genre of rock this time around. Not only the sound, but the inspirational lyrics prove to be a favorite also. It does remind me of their song ‘소멸탈출/The Great Escape’ from their album, “Newton’s Apple”, but of course both tracks have their own charms that makes NELL such a respected band.

It’s really sad how they suffer to receive more love then they should for their songs, especially their tracks starting from ‘바람의 유령 (Ghost of the Wind)’. ‘CONTINUE’ can be described as a nostalgic track, with sentimental vocals and a joyful tune that easily grabs my attention. ‘Step by Step’ actually shares the same concept as ‘CONTINUE’, which can explain why I really like this song. I hope the best for 제국의아이들 (ZE:A) and their future activities!

This song is not actually a title or promotional track, but rather just one of those tracks I found in CNBLUE’s latest album. Usually, I find myself enjoying the second-to-last or the last track out of each album, and this track is no exception. ‘발작국 (Footsteps)’ is a bit slower than their title track, ‘Cinderella’, but it gives the instrumentals a better chance to shine, along with the other vocals of CNBLUE. I always enjoy when Jonghyun has his turn in singing out the tune rather than Yonghwa taking the whole song. This will definitely be one of my favorites for a while.
It’s been a whille since Show Me the Money ended its fourth season, but this song is the only one that I find myself listening to. I can proudly say that ‘Stand Up’ is my favorite track from SMTM4 for many reasons. Not only does Basick proves his talents, the various colors of MAMAMOO can easily make someone love their vocals. The festival atmosphere the song creates is very enjoyable as well.
That wraps up this week favorites. The majority of my recaps will probably be songs I’ve been eyeing, but there will be times where I will mention other topics (:
